Why this safari trip?

Nyerere National Park (formerly known as Selous Game Reserve) is named in honor of our nation’s founder late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere and is one of the world’s finest wildlife destinations.

The park was established in 2019 and is the largest National Park in Africa with an area of over 30.000 square kilometers which is also part of Selous Game Reserve.

It has a wide variety of habitats that support an incredible variety of large numbers of animals that are predators and prey as well as flora (plants) and fauna (animals) like lions, leopard, hyena, impressive numbers of antelope and the most unique and rare animals to see wild dogs, the mighty Rufiji river is also part of park ecosystem which is the largest river in East Africa and is a suitable home for hippos and crocodiles and act as the primary source of water during the dry season.

The park has the most extensive diversity of safari activities ranging from romantic Boat Safari along the Great Rufiji River, legendary fly camping trips, walking, and compliment standard game driving in thriving wildlife areas.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Flying from Zanzibar to Nyerere NP & Game Drive

Our driver will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to Zanzibar International Airport . You will enjoy your short fly to the Mtemere Airstrip at Nyerere Nationalpark. On Arrival our professional driver guide welcome you and drive you to your lodge for check-in. After a short briefing we direct to start your game drive in this magnificent park. You will have wonderful experiences, since Nyerere Nationalpark is the perfect destination for wildlife. You will get up close and personal with large population of elephant as well as a large number of lions, leopard, African hunting dogs, buffalo, and hippo. Species commonly seen are bushbuck, red and blue duikers, eland, hartebeest, hyena, giraffe, oryx, reedbuck, impala, waterbuck, and zebra.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a packed lunch in the wilderness and time to rest, then continue with game drive. In the evening we return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 - Walking Safari & Boat Safari - Flying back to Zanzibar

After breakfast you will start your day off by 2hrs walking safari. A bush walking safari is an adventure packed activity where participants embark on relaxed, guided walks in a wildlife conservation area with the objective of seeing wild animals in a more natural way without using vehicle.

You will explore plenty of wildlife not to mention a rich diversity of Birds, flora and fauna. Walks are done by experienced and trained guides, and these guides often happen to be local people who have the advantage of being born and bred in the very region that you are exploring.

Walking safaris while generally very safe, still do carry an element of risk to the participants as areas your are exploring are actually the territory of the local wildlife and by beeing on foot you essentially place yourself on a level footing with these animals, which may range from Elephant & Buffalo to Lion, Leopard and Cheetah.

We continue explorig on a boat safari on the Rufiji River.

The Rufiji River is Nyerere National Park striking feature, which provides an excellent natural setting for boat safaris, making it one of the few places in Africa where its possible to view wildlife and birdlife from water. During a boat safari, there is a great chance of spotting the hippos, crocodiles and plentiful of different bird species such as the African Fish Eagle, Malachite Kingfisher, Goliath Heron, African Skimmer and Boehm’s Bee-Eater. Monkeys (Blue Monkey, Savannah Baboon and Black and White Colobus Monkey) are often spotted in the trees along the banks of the river as well as Nile Monitor Lizards.

Later on afternoon you will have lunch at the lodge, before start drive to Mtemere Airstrip ready to take your flight to Zanzibar with a very big smile and unforgettable memories experience from the trip of your life time from Tanzania Mainland.
